1.75 miles and 282 calories.
Not too bad!
Better then sitting on the couch, right?

It's official:

I am HORRIBLE at maintaining a blog.

But here goes try #221853 (slight exaggeration):

WOW. It's been a while.
Let's see... what's new with this girl?

For starters, I graduated college!
Finally. After 5 years. But, hey, I finished!
B.S. in Family & Child Development with minors in Psychology and Sociology.

I just got back from visiting my family in Maine.
They're precious!
Love, love, love them.
Oh, and my whole family is trying to eat vegan now.
Especially my sister who is rockin' the vegan lifestyle.

And last but not least, I started dating someone!
Amazing, right? Considering I was approaching border-line-nun status...
But anywho...
He's great, funny, and a sweetie.
Oh, and he's joining the Marines...
Extra motivation to look good? Yeah, I would say so.

That's about all that's new in the life of this girl.
So... back to the weightloss efforts.
I started using My Fitness Pal again.
It's basically a cheaper version of a wanna-be Weight Watchers...
You keep track of what you eat, and stop when you hit your calories for the day.
Knowing that the Boo is heading off to boot camp soon, makes me want to look extra hott for when he comes home.
So it's time to get to work!

I'm baaaaack!

It is amazing how time can fly and you don't even realize it. Can anyone relate?! I'm sorry about disappearing on you guys... I promise I didn't die. What have I been up to?

Well, for starters, the 3 day military diet did not work out. Roomie and I made it until the 2nd night before we both caved. Our energy was completely gone, we were both getting grumpy and the thought of eating another piece of toast made us gag.

Spring break came and was spent in Myrtle Beach, SC. It was lovely! Broadway on the Beach, Margaritaville, 9th floor hotel room right on the beach... it was good, my friends. Very good.

My online classes finished about a week ago, leaving me with only one class standing between myself and graduation! May 11th is going to be here so soon. I am slightly freaking out. 

Even though life has been totally crazy, I have been really persistant with my workouts!

.......And that is the biggest lie on the planet. I have slacked. BIG TIME.

Why is this so hard? Why can't I be good at working out and make it a habit and want to go consistantly?!

3 Day Challenge...

Has anyone heard of the 3 Day Military Diet?!

This is a 3 days on, 4 days off deal. It promises results (don't they all...) so my roommate and I figured why the heck not? So for the next three days, we will be eating the follow:

Day 1 [ Drink lots of water and tea is allowed]

Breakfast: 1/2 grapefruit, 1 whole wheat toast, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and tea
Lunch: 1/2 cup of tuna, 1 toast and tea
Dinner: 3 oz. of meat (we chose oven-roasted turkey), 1 cup of green beans, 1/2 banana, 1 small apple and 1 cup of vanilla ice cream

[ side note: What kind of diet lets you eat ice cream?! Apparently this one does and it made my little fatty heart be filled with joy! ]

Day 2 [Drink only water!]

Breakfast: 1 hard-boiled egg, 1 whole wheat toast and 1/2 banana
Lunch: 1 cup of cottage cheese, 1 hard-boiled egg and 5 saltine crackers
Dinner: 2 hot dogs, 1 cup of broccoli, 1/2 cup of carrots, 1/2 banana and 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream

Day 3 [ Drink only water!]

Breakfast: 5 saltine crackers, 1 slice of cheddar cheese and 1 small apple
Lunch: 1 hard-boiled egg and 1 whole wheat toast
Dinner: 1 cup of tuna, 1/2 banana and 1 cup of vanilla ice cream

So there it is, folks. If I die from hunger before the end of three days, just know I love you all. (JK, but seriously...)

Weigh in...

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed or not, but I haven't done a weigh-in in a loooong time.
The last time was exactly a month ago - February 1.
At that point, I had lost 6 pounds. YAY!

But during the month of February, I really did not feel like I had been doing as well.
Not exercising much.
Not eating super healthy (not eating terrible, but just not as careful as I had been).

So I just put off stepping on that horrible invention called a scale.
But really... who invented that? 

This morning, I was putting on a pair of dress pants and noticed that they seemed a little lose.
At first, I was super happy but then told myself they were probably just stretched out.
I debated a few minutes, then finally grabbed the scale.
And.... And... And...

Overjoyed. Elated. Shocked.

Those describe me now.

Even though I haven't been making huge changes like I did in January, this just goes to show that little changes can make a big difference.

So today, use the stairs instead of the elevator.

Drink water instead of coffee. (Hard, I know.)

I just started watching it on Netflix. All my coworkers (well, the girls that is...) absolutely love it.

I'm talking bawling like a baby during break because of this show. So...

high five for friday

1) I am currently baking the best banana bread everrrr. Move over, Betty Crocker. :)

2) When my sister came to visit last week with her boyfriend, they both left and forgot the brand new container of Folger's coffee that they bought. Good morning to me!

3) All three of my housemates have been sick with the flu for the last two weeks and I am still going strong! (knock on wood) Ain't nobody got time fo' dat. Especially this girl!!

4) I bought a sports bra and a pair of workout shorts at Walmart tonight for $5 each!

5)  I applied to graduate from Liberty University!! May 11th is going to be such a memorable day. :)

Time to be honest...

I'm slipping, guys.
I've only been to the gym 2 times (maybeeeee 3 times, but I think that's wishful thinking) in the last week and a half.
I can not fall back into being unhealthy.
I won't do it.

Trips up to visit by sister in PA and Valentine's Day candy (darn you, chocolate) have been two of the main causes I think.
But, now that the holidays are over and I have no more money for gas, I am stuck here in VA for a while.
Which means, I am less than 5 minutes from the gym again!

No excuses.

Goals for this week:
1) Drink only water.
2) Work out at least 4 times this week.
3) Not eat anything chocolate related.

Confession time...

This weekend = bad.

Well, actually it was great.

Girls night, date with the housemates, Super bowl goodies...

But oh-so-bad for my "get healthy 2013" lifestyle that I have been working on.

Do you know how many calories were included in those three events alone???

Neither do I...but I do know that it was probably atleast double what I have been eating.

Not. even. exaggerating.

I'm trying really hard not to beat myself up over it.

(Oh, and did I mention that I went to the gym a grand total of 0 times this weekend?)

Everyone has slip-ups and eats that one extra piece of pizza right?

It's all about holding fast to the goal.

And the goal for this girl can only be acheived by...

visits to the gym...

healthy eating...

and lots and lots of water.

So here we go!

A couple days ago, I realized that I had a comment on one of my blog posts. I was so excited!! Someone actually reads my blog? This is huge news, people!

And this comment from Charlie at Lipstick & Lemon Drops informed me that I had be nominated for the.... (drum roll please!!)....

    I had seen it on a website (probably Pinterest or Tumblr) and fell in love with it! Eating clean and training dirty is truely the best way to lose weight. Screw all those fad diets.

    Honestly, it all depends. I aim to update it at least once a week with a weigh-in, but I usually end up writing a blog post about two or three times each week.

  3. What is your favorite color and thing that you own of that color?

    I love the color blue! All shades are gorgeous. And my favorite thing that is blue? This baby...

  4. Do you perfer high heels, flats, or shoes you exercise in? Flats... no competition.

    My housemate made Chicken Enchiladas and they were delish!

    Ugh, I hate this question because I feel like I always have to leave someone out. I have so many fabulous friends, but if I had to narrow it down to only three, I would go with Jessica (my sister), Emily (my old roommate) and Brielle (my current roommate).

    Sadly, I did not go to prom. I was homeschooled. :(

high five for friday!

(But really...)

This means it is time forrrr......


1) Last Friday, I went to the Sears in town because they are closing and having huge sales - my favorite. :) And I picked up this cute bedding for only $24!

2) Smoothie King is my new favorite quick meal. I've had it twice this week and it is so yummy! The first time I got Pineapple Pleasure (I think that is what it's called?) and today I got a Chocolate Lean 1.

3) And the countdown has finally begun until I get to visit with my sister!!! I'm going to pick her up this coming Thursday. Anyone out there who thinks you have the best sister - you don't. (Sorry, not sorry.)

4) Okay, I don't really know if this counts as a h54f or not since I haven't done it yet, but have all you bloggers seen this??? Hair removal with a sugar mix! I found it on Pinterest (the place where all good crafts come from) and I am really wanting to try it.

I weighed in for the second time today... but only after going to the bathroom twice and stripping off every piece of clothing. (every ounce counts, people.)

Anddddd..... 2 more pounds lost!!!

Not as much as I would like, but hey! That's a total for 4 pounds less than I started with. And to be honest, I am actually really proud. :)

high five for friday

I kind of decided to join in on the "high five for friday" fun last minute so I don't have pictures (booo) but I'll try to have some next week!


1) I've worked out every single day! Well, except one day because of cramps. That's not an excuse but a legit reason. Ask any woman. Those things can be killer.

2) I had my first residential class of the semester this week! It's all about the stressers that face families today - traditional families, military families, homosexual families, any type of family you can think of. I'm excited for it!

3) I gathered up some of my girls on Wednesday night and we all went to a zumba class! Definitely not my natural talent, but it was definitely fun. :)

4) Monday night was the (hopefully) traditional "Bachelor Girl's Night"! I know, I know. It sounds weird. So what is this lovely event? To put it simply - pile as many girl friends into our living room as possible and ooh and ahh over Sean Lowe's gorgeous shirtless body on the Bachelor. Now you want to join, don't ya? ;)

5) It's snowing!!! Some people would disagree, but I think snow is definitely worth a spot in "high five". This Northern girl living in a southern state is quite content!

Over all, my week was been good but rather uneventful. I'll try to make next weeks better. :)

Sweat, numbness, & butt-bruises...

Have you ever seen those girls in the gym who are all pretty and glamorous?
They look great in yoga pants and a t-shirt!
And then there are those who wear their hair down and 5 pounds of makeup on their face...
Uh, yeah, one word... FAKE.
No one looks that good if they are actually working out hard.
Sorry not sorry...

Anyways, what's the point of this blog post?
The point is that I am most definitely, 110%, no doubt in my mind, completely opposite of those girls.
Today I went to my first spin class.
Oh. Em. Geeeeee.

Sweat was literally dripping off my face.
Some of my toes were numb. (Can anyone tell me why?)
And the WORST part of all.... my butt kills.
I seriously think it might be bruised.

It was by far the hardest hour that I have been through in a long time.
But even through the sweat, numbness, and butt-bruises (glamorous, huh?)...
It felt good.
It felt good (and embarrassing, but mostly good) to be one of the biggest girls in the class but still keeping up pretty darn well with everyone.
It felt good to finish out the hour when I was positive I wouldn't make it the whole time when I started.

Be good to yourself.

Back to the gym!

The last couple of days I've found myself starting to slack off. The excuses keep trying to come back.

"But you've worked all day! Just rest."
"Skipping one day won't matter."
"There probably isn't even a good parking place at the gym right now."
"It's probably over crowded."

No. More. Excuses.

So here I am. Changed into my workout clothes, about to hop in the car and drive to the gym.

Push yourself!!

Today is the 4th gym day in a row!
Believe or not, that's a big deal for this chick.
It's actually getting to the point where I look forward to going.
I want the challenge.
I like getting all sweaty and pushing myself go further and harder.

If this chubby girl can do it, you definitely can.
I don't care what your weight is.
What your age is.
Whether or not you've ever exercised in your life.

When you've been on that elliptical for ten minutes and you want to stop...
Make yourself go until the timer says eleven minutes.
And then once it hits eleven minutes, guess what....
Make yourself go twelve minutes!
It's all about the baby steps!
If you don't want to go by minutes, go by calories.
I make myself burn atleast 350 and then push myself til it reads 400.

On another note, today was the first day of my semester.
I had to go to my internship and work.
It was kind of a taste of the "real world".
I liked it!!

After my internship and work, I met my housemate at the gym and then we went grocery shopping for healthy foooood.... (never go shopping on an empty stomach, for reals). I bought:

Fruit. Lots and lots of fruit.
Greek Yogurt.
Lean frozen dinners.

I did it in my bedroom and was going to just call that my work out for the day. Then I had a friend text me and say she was going to the gym and asked if I wanted to join. How could I pass that up? I did 20 minutes on the eliptical and then abs for about 15 minutes.

Airports & Free WiFi

Can I just say what a blessing straight from Jesus it is to have free wifi during layovers?! Sorry about my disappearance from the blog world! The last few days, I have been packing, spending time with family and traveling. I am currently at the Charlotte airport waiting for my final connecting flight back to school.

The past few days of craziness have reminded me how easy it is to become distracted from what is important. I haven't been having quiet times, haven't been exercising, haven't been eating healthy... Gosh. But that IS going to change. And I am honestly so excited about it!

I land back in my college town around 2pm today and I'm actually thinking of hitting the gym later tonight! If I can do it after waking up at 3am and riding on three airplanes, then you definitely can. Now get out there! Here's a little inspiration for you...
